Live Online Tutorials – New features – Vista compatible

We are launching a new version of our Online Tutorial service which will be Vista compatible. It also includes a number of enhancements designed to add new features and make to make the existing ones easier to use. The main new features are listed below.

Vista support. Online tutorials can be accessed from PCs running Windows Vista.
Single-window user interface. The Voice Chat, Viewport, Keyboard Chat and Session info are displayed in a single window, which opens automatically at the start of the session. There is no need for students to rearrange multiple windows on their desktops.
One-time download. A small program is installed automatically on the student’s PC the first time that the system is used. There is no need for students to pre-install Java on their PCs.
One-click operation. Facilities like Raise Hand require just one click. Sending messages has also been simplified.
New Facilities. Students can send feedback to the tutor more easily through live polls and quizzes. Students will be able to allow the tutor to take control of (and display) their desktops.

The new system will go live over the weekend of 26th - 27th April. We shall e-mail students currently attending online tutorials who will be affected by the changeover, to suggest logging in earlier during the week commencing 28th April in order to get used to the changes. As the new system is more intuitive and easier to use, students should not need more than 10 minutes to become familiar with the new interface.
